Niners Draw Top-Seeded Tulsa in C-USA Tourney

BOCA RATON, FLA.- In the first year back in the Conference USA, Charlotte led by head coach Aimee DeVos, will take on the top-seeded Tulsa squad in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Softball Tournament.  Charlotte made the tournament thanks to some help by FIU and UAB in last week's conference series finales.

Things went the right way for the Niners grabbing the number eight seed and heading to its first appearance in the Conference USA tournament since the 2001 season.  Charlotte did make the Atlantic 10 tournament during the eight year hiatus.  This tournament trip marks the third time in program history for the Niners in Conference USA postseason play.

Charlotte coming off a doubleheader loss over the weekend to ACC power N.C. State brings its record to Boca Raton at 20-28 (10-13 C-USA).  Charlotte will square off with No. 18 Tulsa (47-7, 19-4 C-USA) which lost two of the three games to C-USA tournament selection, North Texas.

Charlotte will see Pitcher of the Year, Aimee Creger; Player of the Year, Jill Barrett; and Coach of the Year, John Bargfeldt in the opposing dugout.  Tulsa also features numerous first and second team all-conference selections.

First pitch is slated for 4 pm.  Live Stats, Live Video feed, and radio broadcast are available for today's game.  Be sure to follow @Charlotte49ers and @49erGameDay for in-game updates.
