CHARLOTTE, N.C.- After patiently waiting in the final weekend of the regular season, Charlotte's postseason dreams were granted making the 2014 Conference USA Softball Tournament after some help from FIU and UAB.
The Niners needed a FIU sweep of Southern Miss and UAB to win the series against UTSA to make the tournament as the eight seed heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
After FIU picked up two wins against Southern Miss and UAB split with UTSA on Saturday, FIU swept Southern Miss, 5-0, and UAB battled to a 5-3 victory over UTSA allowing Charlotte to grab the final spot in the tournament.
"What a weekend in C-USA softball?," said Coach Aimee DeVos. "It was tough weekend to sit and watch scores, we had four different series working for and against us. We set ourselves up the best we could with the series win against Marshall. After all said and done, we are rewarded with a trip to the C-USA tournament. We can't wait to get down there and make a run at the title."
