CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Coming off the finale C-USA series over the weekend, Charlotte (20-26) hits the road for the final road trip of the season to take on non-conference foe Winthrop (26-24) in a midweek doubleheader affair.
Jackie Kleinsmith continues to lead the Niners offensively hitting .336 on the season with a team leading 46 hits. Kleinsmith is third on the team with seven doubles and five home runs. The junior is second on the team in RBI.
Samantha Slade seems to be coming out of her slump after hitting .357 in the past five ball games and moving her average to .331 on the season. Slade has picked up five hits in the past five games with three of those being extra base hits. Sam Slade leads the team with 11 doubles and is second on the team with seven home runs.
Home run leader, Jessica Plemmons, hit her team leading 10th home run in the series finale against Marshall on Sunday and giving her 36 RBI on the season. Chelsea Lisikatos leads the team in the past five games hitting .462 with six hits, two doubles, a home run and five RBI.
Charlotte ace, Lexi Betancourt, will look for elusive win number 20 on the season after picking up a 4-1 record in the past five decisions. Betancourt is 19-13 on the season and will look to be only the seventh 49er to reach 20 wins in a single season.
The redshirt sophomore is posting a 0.60 ERA in her last five starts with two shutouts and 35 strikeouts. Betancourt has a 2.24 ERA on the season with seven shutouts and 198 strikeouts.
The Niners will take the field against Winthrop at 5 pm in Rock Hill, S.C. with game two following.
