CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte softball team will continue its home stand when it hosts Radford on Wednesday, April 17 for a non-conference twinbill beginning at 4 p.m. at D.L. Phillips Complex.
The 49ers (16-22 overall) are coming off a pair of losses to Atlantic 10 foe Massachusetts who is second in league standings. However, the Niners are hoping to bounce back against Radford (16-23) who won a pair of games against Presbyterian over the weekend.

Briana Gwaltney continues to lead Charlotte offensively with a .374 batting average, 43 hits and 32 RBI. Chelsea Ingersoll (.367) has been the 49ers’ long ball hitter with a team-leading eight homers on the season. Natalie Capone (.347) has led Charlotte with 14 multiple-hit games.
Radford is led by Becky Mantel (.311) who is the only Highlander batting over .300. However, most of Radford’s starters have recorded at least 25 hits. As a team, Radford is batting .263 and will have to face Charlotte pitchers Katie Watkins (9-13) and Chelsea Lisikatos (6-8). Watkins has held her opponents to a .275 batting average and leads the team in strikeouts (114).
Leading the Highlanders in the circle is ace Rachel Walters with a 12-7 record. Walters has a 3.07 earned run average (ERA) in 114.0 innings pitched. Jackie Jenkins (3-16) has appeared in 24 games and tallied 30 strikeouts.
