Softball heads to Auburn for War Eagle Classic
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte softball team continues its road schedule as it prepares for the War Eagle Classic, hosted by Auburn University on Friday, March 1-3.

Teams competing in the tournament are Gardner-Webb (2-4 overall), Middle Tennessee State (0-10), Minnesota (7-7), and Southern (0-16). 

Auburn (12-4) is 32-5 all-time in the War Eagle Classic and has won 14 straight in the tournament. The Tigers’ last loss in the War Eagle Classic came on Feb. 22, 2009, to Purdue in a 3-1 defeat.

Charlotte is 12-5-1 against the teams competing this weekend. Charlotte holds the 11-3-1 edge over Gardner-Webb and is 1-0 against Middle Tennessee. The Niners are 0-1 against Auburn and Minnesota and will have their first meeting with Southern on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CST. 

On Saturday, the 49ers will face Auburn at 10 a.m. and Minnesota at 3 p.m. Charlotte will close the tournament on Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. matchup against Middle Tennessee. 

Charlotte returns home on Wednesday, March 6 for a doubleheader against Elon beginning at 4 p.m. at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex.
