Road Swing Continues for Niners

Charlotte, N.C.- Charlotte 49ers Softball team closes out the five game road swing with a doubleheader stop in Greensboro, N.C. to take on UNC Greensboro.  Charlotte is coming off of a 1-0 shutout victory against conference foe UAB on Saturday.  UNC Greensboro has not played since Wednesday when it faced the Niners in a doubleheader contest in Charlotte.

Charlotte is looking to avenge the doubleheader loss at home to UNC Greensboro last week as the Spartans took game one 5-3 and the night cap 9-0.

Team leading hitter Jackie Kleinsmith (Santa Maria, Calif./ Righetti HS) continues to hit the ball well in the past ten games hitting .346 from the plate, boasting her overall batting average to .346 on the season.  Kleinsmith leads the team in hits with 44 while contributing seven doubles, five home runs and 29 RBI.  The catcher is hitting an impressive .429 with five doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI in non-conference play.

Samantha Slade (Apex, N.C./ Apex HS) is on a bit of a skid dropping her average to .328 on the season.  Slade is tied with Chelsea Ingersoll (Charlotte, N.C./ Butler HS) with eight doubles apiece.  Slade also has seven home runs and 22 RBI to her credit.  the junior second baseman is hitting .373 in non-conference play.

Jessica Plemmons (Lexington, N.C./ North Davidson HS) is hitting .309 with a team leading nine home runs and 33 RBI.  Plemmons has been clutch for the Niners this season hitting three home runs in the past ten games.  Plemmons has done a lot of damage in non-conference play hitting four doubles, five home runs and has driven in 23.

Charlotte will take on UNC Greensboro in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 23 with first pitch slated for 4 pm.
