Charlotte, N.C.- Coming off the exciting walk-off win against FAU on Sunday, Charlotte takes a step out of Conference USA play to take on in-state rival UNC Greensboro in a midweek doubleheader. This will be two of the four game series of the season, with the Niners returning the favor next week playing a doubleheader at UNC Greensboro.
Charlotte comes into the 68th all-time meeting leading the Spartans 39-28. Charlotte is 16-20 on the season with UNC Greensboro at 18-23 on the season. Charlotte is currently on a three game win streak in the series defeating the Spartans eight of the last 10 games in the series.
Samantha Slade continues to lead the Niners at the plate hitting .339 with eight doubles, seven home runs and 22 RBI. Jessica Plemmons, the hero against FAU, is hitting .327 with a team leading eight home runs and 31 RBI. Jackie Kleinsmith continues her tear on the ball hitting .333 with Natalie Capone rounding out the top four of the line-up hitting .314.
Lexi Betancourt picked up the win in the series finale against FAU on Sunday moving to 15-11 on the season. Betancourt tied her season-high win total from her freshman campaign with the win over FAU. Betancourt has the bulk of the innings for the Niners with 168 innings pitched.
UNC Greensboro comes into the first of four straight games with the Niners with a win over Western Carolina in a SoCon series. UNC Greensboro lost the series two games to one. The Spartans are led by one of the hottest hitters the Niners have seen all season. Katelyn Bedwell has 43 RBI on the season picking up 52 hits, 14 doubles and 10 home runs on her way to a .403 average.
Betancourt will likely oppose Spartan's ace Raeanne Hanks in game one. Hanks has 25 starts with a 9-14 record and 3.67 ERA.
