Niners Head to NCAA T&F National Championships

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA- For the first time in program history, the men's 4x100m relay team and a men's high jump athlete will head to the coveted NCAA Track and Field National Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Trey McRae cleared a life time best 7'1.5 (2.17m) to qualify for the NCAA National Championships in the men's high jump.  McRae became the first male to qualify in the event and only the second in program history.  Former 49er jumper, Adrienne Barnette, qualified in the event in 2004.

The quartet of Anthony Bynum, Khyran Shank, LeRoy Rouse and John Osborne continue to shave time off of the school record in the 4x100m relay.  In back to back seasons, the men's 4x100m set the school record in the event posting a 39.70 for a 12th place finish and a ticket to the NCAA National Championships.

This will mark the first time the men's 4x100m relay team will make the trip to Eugene, Oregon.

T'Sheila Mungo qualified for the semi-finals in the women's 400m dash placing 23rd overall with a time of 53.67.  Mungo would finish 24th overall in the semi-finals.

Joann Blakney finished 27th overall in the women's 100m dash with a time of 11.86.  Blakney would finished 35th overall in the 200m dash with a performance of 23.98.

Kerrick Williams grabbed a 28th finish in the men's discus with a mark of 174'6 (53.18m).  Daniel Freeman finished 38th overall in the men's javelin with a toss of 194' (59.14m).  Anthony Campbell tallied a 40th place finish in the men's triple jump clearing 47' 3.75 (14.42m).

Anthony Bynum finished 32nd overall in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.27.  Alvonna Blakney finished in 40th in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.93.

The men's 4x400m relay squad comprised of Bynum, Christopher Boyd, Phillip Bryant, Chris Tate finished in 21st overall with a time of 3:09.85.

Trey McRae and the men's 4x100m relay squad will head to Eugene, Oregon, June 11-14 to participate in the NCAA Track and Field National Championships.
