|Charlotte Runs at Prestigious Penn Relays|
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Charlotte 49ers track and field program made its mark at the prestigious Penn Relays this weekend with several personal bests including a school record in the women's 4x800m relay squad.
The quartet of Rachel Miller, T'Sheila Mungo, Taylor Carcella and Maraya Slatter broke the Charlotte school record placing seventh with a time of 8:51.18. The 4x800m relay squad broke the record by over two seconds.
Morgan Richards ran a personal best in the 3k Steeplechase with a time of 10:47.08 for a second place finish. Richards' performance ranks fifth on the Charlotte all-time list and third in the conference. Ashleigh Handchen posted a personal best as well in the 3k Steeplechase with a time of 11:05. Handchen's performance nets her seventh on the Charlotte all-time list and fifth in the conference.
Charlotte men's 4x100m relay squad finished 20th overall out of the 92 competing squads with a 41.06 performance. The men's 4x800m relay squad finished tenth overall with a performance of 7:37.86,
Zach Greth finished the men's 10k with the second fastest time in Conference USA with a performance of 30:45.
Coye Still was the top finisher for the Niners in the men's long jump placing sixth overall with a leap of 6.98m (22-10.75). Cordell Livingston finished in 13th overall with a mark of 6.67m (21-10.75). Livingston finished the 400m hurdles with a performance of 53.86.
Anthony Campbell finished in sixth in the men's triple jump with a bound of 14.93m (48-11.75). Livingston finished 12th overall with a mark of 14.46m (47-5.25).
Briauna Jones finished 13th overall in the women's triple jump clearing 12.08m (39-9.75).
With finals this week, the Niners will take the weekend off from competition. Charlotte will head to Greensboro, N.C. to participate in the one day meet hosted by N.C. A&T, May 11.
