Charlotte, N.C.- After hosting the largest meet in program history last week with the 49er Classic, the 49ers Track and Field programs head to Raleigh, N.C. to participate in the Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State, March 28-29.
K'Vonte Scott (Virginia Beach, Va./ ETSU) kicked things off with a bang competing in his first meet for the Niners and taking the school record by storm. Scott currently sits in third place in the nation with his performance last week accumulating 7,022 total points.
Anthony Bynum (Charlotte, N.C./ Hopewell HS) tore up the track on his way to a first place finish in the 400m dash in the prelims and the finals. Bynum currently holds tight to the top spot in the nation in the event with a 46.78 performance. T'Sheila Mungo (Charlotte, N.C./ Independence HS) competed in the women's 400m dash and took first in the prelims with a time of 53.70 but was scratched from the finals. Mungo sits in sixth in the nation in the event and second in the conference behind UTEP's Florence Uwakwe.
The 49ers are prepared to take on another long weekend with the first event (3000m steeplechase) starting at 8:45 am and concluding with the 10K event at 10:35pm. Some of the notable programs in attendence along with Charlotte: Appalachian State, Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
The Raleigh Relays will feature over 3,000 runners from all over the United States and all three Divisions.
