C-USA Outdoor Championships Results Day Two

HOUSTON, TEXAS- Charlotte 49ers Track and Field team completes day two of the Conference USA Championships hosted by Rice University with K'Vonte Scott taking home the top spot in the men's decathlon and Evelyn Putman shattering the school record in the women's heptathlon.

After holding the day one lead of the men's decathlon, K'Vonte Scott grabbed a hold of the top spot and didn't let it go winning the event by 404 points.  Teammates Nick Swan and Nathan Jeffers finished eighth and ninth respectively in the men's decathlon. 

Swan won the 110m hurdles with Scott finishing second and Jeffers in fourth.  Both Scott and Jeffers tied for third in the Pole Vault segment of the decathlon with a mark of 13-1.5 (4.00m).  Scott put himself in the lead for good taking the javelin portion with a mark of 171-10 (52.38m).  

Scott cruised to the win in the 1500m with a ninth place finish.  Mike Cross, finished 12th overall in the decathlon, won the 1500m with a time of 4:46.49.

Evelyn Putman sat in sixth place heading into day two of the women's heptathlon and climbed up one spot for a fifth place finish.  Putman's 4701 total points in the event, puts her as Charlotte's all-time leader in the event.  Putman's performance is a 382 point improvement and shattered the school record in the event by 346 points.

Michael Pecchia and Kerrick Williams finished in the top ten in the men's hammer throw.  Pecchia finished in 7th with a mark of 166-8 (50.80m), while Williams placed ninth with a mark of 161-8 (49.28m).

In the women's hammer throw, Katrina Wright finished in sixth place with a mark of 171-00 (52.12m) and scored three points for the women's squad.

Ben Sterett placed 10th in the men's 10K with a time of 32:33.69.  Noah Green and Zach Greth placed 15th and 16th respectively.

Kim Spano placed tenth overall in the women's 10K with a time of 37:01.19.  Jen Molke grabbed a 13th place finish.

After three events the men's squad sits in fifth place, while the women's squad sits in eighth.  

Day three kicks off with the men's and women's long jump taking flight at 3pm (central).
