Charlotte T&F Tunes Up at Aggie Last Chance Meet

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Charlotte competed in the Aggie Last Chance meet over the weekend preparing for the Conference USA Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Rice in Houston, Texas.

In the fielding events, the men's team grabbed five top-three finishes and the women's team grabbed eight.

Daniel Freeman took the top overall spot in the men's javelin with a throw of 189-11 (57.88m).  Brittany Ann Leffler picked up a third place finish in the women's javelin sticking a throw of 128-11 (39.29m).

Katrina Wright picked up two top-three finishes in women's hammer (third) and women's discus (first).  Wright placed first in the discus with a hurl of 151-2 (46.09m) and third in the hammer throw with a heave of 154-2 (47.00m).

Trey McRae took second in the men's high jump clearing 6-10.75 (2.10m).  Lauren Gulley took third in the women's high jump clearing 5-7 (1.70m) with teammate Brittney Simmons in fourth clearing 5-5 (1.65m).

 Michael Pecchia and Kerrick Williams took first and third respectively in the men's hammer throw.  Pecchia took the top spot with a personal best heave of 185-6 (56.54m).  Williams' toss of 178-2 (54.32m) was good enough for a third place finish.

Anthony Campbell took second in the men's triple jump with a trio of leaps to land a mark of 48-9 (14.86m).  Briauna Jones also grabbed second place in the women's triple jump with a mark of 39-7 (12.06m).

The trio of Jones, Jessica Morgan and Dejah Hayes picked up top-five finishes in the women's long jump.  Jones led the way with a second place finish with a leap of 18-1.5 (5.52m).  Morgan was jumping at the heels of Jones with a leap of 18-1 (5.51m) for third place.  Freshman Hayes rounded out the top five with a leap of 18-0.25 (5.49m).

Brittany Plummer placed fourth in the women's pole vault clearing 11-2.5 (3.42m).

In the running events, Joann Blakney took fourth in the women's 200m posting a time of 23.85.

Carl Walton, Jr. posted a personal best time in the 800m grabbing the top spot with a time of 1:51.60.  Michael Tamayo finished fifth in the 800m finishing with a time of 1:56.08.  Taylor Carcella placed third in the women's 800m with Charlotte's top time of 2:11.69.

Marcus Rinehardt and Morgan Richards took the top spot in the 1500m.  Rinehardt took the top spot for the men in the event with a time of 4:06.28.  Richards took the top spot for the women with a time of 4:35.91.  Carolina Casin-Silva posted a fourth place finish in the event with a time of 4:48.60.

Cordell Livingston placed third in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 52.18.

Charlotte took the top three spots in the men's 300m steeplechase.  Getisso Dentamo finished with a team best 10:01.13.  Eli Clevenger placed second in the event finishing with a time of 10:11.47 with Eleazar Garcia finishing in third with time of 10:16.21.

Charlotte heads to the Conference USA Outdoor Championships this weekend hosted by the University of Rice, May 15-18.
