Charlotte, N.C.- Coming off three straight weeks of participating against large fields, the Niners head to Greenville, N.C. to participate in the East Carolina Inivitational this weekend, starting April 11 and wrap up on the 12th.
The Niners will compete against East Carolina, UNC Wilmington and South Carolina in the two day meet. Charlotte has competed in meets the past several weeks with 50 plus teams at each meet. The event marks the first-ever home meet to be held at the ECU Track and Field Facility at the Olympic Sports Complex. The facility was finished during the summer of 2011.
Charlotte will get a close look at Conference USA foe, East Carolina, as the two have competed in a number of events this season in the congested fields.
Four field events will begin at noon, today, with men's and women's hammer throw and men's and women's discus following.
The majority of the events will start on Saturday at 11am with women's pole vault. The first running event will be the women's 3000 meter steeplechase starting at 11:30am. The last event of the day will be the men's 4x400m relay at 4:50pm. At the Florida Relays last week, the Niners men's 4x400m team comprised of Anthony Bynum, Christopher Boyd, Brian Hamilton and Chris Tate broke the school record in the event.
