Wright and Tate grab Atlantic 10 Weekly honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Katrina Wright and Chris Tate of the Charlotte Track and Field team received Atlantic 10 weekly awards following meets competed over the weekend, the league office announced on Monday.

Wright, a junior, earned Women’s Performer of the Week honors after competing in both the discus and the hammer throw at the N.C A&T Aggie Invitational.  The Greencastle, Pa., native, recorded first-place finishes in both events with a mark of 154’8 in the discus and 168’4 in the hammer throw.  Her toss in the hammer throw leads the conference and was a personal-best mark.

Tate, a freshman from Chambersburg, Pa., received Men’s Rookie of the Week honors after recording a time of 48.47 in the 400 meters at the N.C A&T Aggie Invitational.   Tate’s time currently ranks as the fourth-best 400 meter mark in the Atlantic 10 this season.

The 49ers will host the Charlotte Invitational beginning on Thursday, April 18-19.
