VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Charlotte's Joann Blakney, Trey McRae and T'Sheila Mungo have snagged three of the four Atlantic 10 weekly awards for track and field, the conference announced Monday. For the second straight week, Blakney was named Women's Performer of the Week, while McRae and Mungo earned Rookie of the Week honors for the first time this season.

Blakney, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., bested her A10-leading time in the 100m (11.52) en route to recording a first-place finish at this past weekend's Charlotte Invitational. Blakney was also a member of the women's 4x100m relay (45.72) and 4x400m relay (3:38.71) teams that picked up wins at Saturday's meet.

Mungo, also a Charlotte native, captured first place in the women's 400m with a personal best time of 53.75. Mungo's mark currently leads the Atlantic 10 conference and ranks 50th nationally, while ranking second in school history in the event. Along with Blakney, the rookie sprinter helped the 4x400m relay to victory in a facility record time that leads the A10 and ranks second all-time in Charlotte history.

McRae finished first and set a new personal best in the high jump with a mark of 6'10.75" at the Charlotte Invite. The Laurinburg, N.C., native's performance currently ranks third in Charlotte school history and second in the Atlantic 10 this season. McRae also recorded an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 22'9".

Altogether, the 49ers recorded 14 first place finishes and 16 PRs at the Charlotte Invitational Saturday in front of a home crowd at Belk Track.

The track and field team has an off-week this week as it prepares for the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Amherst, Mass. from May 5-6.
