CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte women's soccer freshman Amanda Jones has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, the conference announced Thursday. In her rookie year, the forward from Mahwah, N.J. helped the Niners reach their fourth straight conference tournament.
Despite a mid-season injury that left her sidelined for five games, Jones ranks third on the team in scoring with three goals and three assists for nine points. She has tallied two assists through four games of conference play, including assisting on the game-winning goal against conference foe Fordham on Senior Day.
From the start of the season, Jones has played an integral role on the Charlotte offense. She scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over UNC Wilmington, the Niners' first victory of the season. Additionally, she was named co-Rookie of the Week (9/26) after tallying a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over High Point.
Jones and the rest of the 49ers face third-seed and host Dayton in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30 p.m.
