Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team, who has reached the A-10 Tournament Championship game for four straight years, earned the sixth seed at the Atlantic 10 Tournament which is being held at the University of Dayton, November 3, 4 and 6. The 49ers face the host team third-seed Dayton in the quarterfinals, Thursday, November 3 at 7:30 pm.
Charlotte won the Atlantic 10 Tournament title in 2007 and 2008. The 49ers have reached at least the A-10 Tournament semifinals in each of the last six years. The 49ers have played in the A-10 Tournament Championship game for four straight years. In the program's history, Charlotte has won four conference tournament titles and reached a conference tournament championship game seven times.
Charlotte plays Dayton in the second quarterfinal game, Thursday, November 3 at 7:30 pm. Fourth-seed Massachusetts and fifth-seed St. Bonaventure plays the first A-10 Tournament quarterfinal game, Thursday, November 3 at 5 pm.
Top-seed La Salle faces the lowest remaining seed in the first semifinal game, Friday, November 4 at 5 pm. Second-seed Richmond faces the highest remaining seed in the second semifinal game at 7:30 pm.
The Championship game will be played on Sunday, November 5 at 1 pm.
Macky Wingo leads the 49ers in goals (7), assists (4) and points (18). Oni Bernard is second on the team with five goals and 11 points. Amanda Jones and Jonna Handra have tallied three goals apiece. Carrie Dail has recorded two goals. Jenna McKeon and Sara Trexler have also scored goals this season.
