Wingo scored the game's only goal when she took a pass from Jenna McKeon and blasted the ball into the back of the net from eight yards out in the 48th minute. Wingo's goal was her seventh of the season and the 22nd of her career. Wingo's goal came on the 49ers' first shot of the second half.
Charlotte had numerous scoring chances but their shots were either wide, blocked by a Xavier defender or saved by Xavier's goalkeeper Katie Markesbery.
In the first 12 minutes of the game, the 49ers had five shots and two corner kicks. Charlotte's Katie Davies took the 49ers first shot just a minute and a half into the game. Charlotte tallied 14 of their 20 shots in the first half.
Charlotte's defense behind the play of goalkeeper Alex Kubrick recorded their seventh shutout of the season. Kubrick tallied her fifth shutout of the season and the ninth of her career.
Charlotte concludes the regular-season on the road at Dayton, Sunday, October 30 at 1 pm.
