Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team concludes the regular-season with road games at Xavier and Dayton this weekend, October 28-30. The 49ers are currently tied for sixth place in the A-10 and Charlotte is battling for one of the six spots in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament. The 49ers begin the weekend with a road game at Xavier, Friday, October 28 at 7 pm. Then, the 49ers play Dayton on the road in their final regular-season game, Sunday, October 30 at 1 pm. Since 2000, the 49ers are 10-0-1 in their final regular-season game.
Macky Wingo leads the 49ers in goals (6), assists (4) and points (16). Oni Bernard is second on the team with four goals. Jonna Handra and Amanda Jones have each tallied three goals. Carrie Dail has scored two goals this season.
Friday's game will mark the sixth meeting between Charlotte and Xavier. The 49ers have won all five previous meetings. Charlotte defeated Xavier, 3-0, in their last meeting which came at Xavier, October 11, 2009.
Sunday's game will mark the ninth meeting between Charlotte and Dayton. The 49ers have a 5-2-1 series lead. Charlotte and Dayton have played each other in the last three Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship games. Charlotte lost to Dayton, 4-3, in double overtime in their last meeting which came in the 2010 A-10 Tournament Championship game. Charlotte and Dayton tied, 0-0, in their last meeting at Dayton, October 9, 2009.
