Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team travels to St. Bonaventure and Duquesne for two conference matchups this weekend. The Niners face St. Bonaventure on Friday, October 14th at 3pm, then take on Duquesne Sunday, October 16th at 1pm.
Senior Macky Wingo leads the 49ers squad with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Rookie Amanda Jones and senior Oni Bernard are tied for second, each with three goals and an assist. Senior Jonna Handra is third with two goals and two helpers on the year.
Friday's game will mark the fifth meeting between Charlotte and St. Bonaventure, with the 49ers holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. Charlotte suffered its first ever loss to the Bonnies last season, a 3-1 defeat at Transamerica Field. Charlotte last travelled to St. Bonaventure during the 2008 season, scoring eight goals against the home team in an 8-2 victory.
Sunday's game will be the sixth meeting between Charlotte and Duquesne. Charlotte has won four of the previous five meetings. The Niners shut out the Dukes in their last matchup, 3-0 at Transamerica Field. The last time Charlotte travelled to Duquesne was during the 2007 season, with the 49ers winning, 5-0.
