49ers Open A-10 Play At Saint Louis, Saturday

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team begins defense of their Atlantic 10 regular-season title on the road at Saint Louis, Saturday, October 1 at 8 pm. Charlotte has captured at least a share of four of the last five A-10 regular-season titles. The 49ers enter the game having won their last five Atlantic 10 season openers.

Senior Macky Wingo and freshman Amanda Jones, who earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors this week, are tied for the team lead in goals with three apiece. Senior Oni Bernard has scored two goals this season. Wingo leads the team in assists with three. Senior Jonna Handra and junior Carrie Dail are tied for second on the team in assists with two apiece.

This game will mark the 17th meeting between Charlotte and Saint Louis. The 49ers have a 9-5-2 series lead. Charlotte is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings against Saint Louis. Charlotte defeated Saint Louis, 1-0, in their last meeting which came at Charlotte's Transamerica Field, October 23, 2010. Charlotte and Saint Louis played to a 0-0 double overtime tie in their last meeting at Saint Louis, October 30, 2009.
