|Non-conference schedule ends Tuesday for 49ers|
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte women's soccer team will put a stamp on its non-conference schedule when it plays host to Francis Marion at 7 p.m. at Transamerica Field. The 49ers have not played since a road win at James Madison Sept. 16.
"We came back and practiced last night and looked very fresh," assistant coach Cory Alexander said. "We feel like that rest and excitement will carry over to tomorrow. We're pretty confident the players are excited and ready to go."
Redshirt junior Taylor Rovito provided the winning score against JMU, heading home an Amanda Jones corner kick just over four minutes into the first overtime period for a 1-0 Niner victory. Charlotte improved to 5-3-1 on the campaign with the triumph.
A trio of 49ers, senior Carrie Dail and sophomores Amanda Jones and Sara Trexler pace the squad with two goals apiece. Both scores registered by Dail and Trexler have been game winners.
Junior goalkeeper Alex Kubrick has keyed the Charlotte defensive effort, posting a 0.54 goals-against average and three clean sheets in over 665 minutes of action between the pipes.
Francis Marion enters the match with a 5-4-1 ledger after knocking off Prairie View A&M 3-2 Friday night. The Patriots have yet to win a true road contest this season, earning four at home and one in a neutral-site meeting versus Alabama State.
Elizabeth Asare has netted a program-best five goals thus far, one more than Yasmin Bunter during the team's opening 10 games.
Taylor O'Berry has been the only goalkeeper to see action, collecting 54 saves with a pair of blankings.
The 49ers lead the all-time series, 4-0-0, picking up a 1-0 road victory Sept. 26, 2010, in the last meeting between the two programs.
