|Niners head back to Blacksburg|
Charlotte, N.C.- The Charlotte track and field program heads back to Blacksburg, Va. as it participates in the Hokie Invitational this weekend, 24-25. Last week Charlotte set three school records and looks to continue its success.
Joann Blakney recorded a career best time (7.37) in the 60m event last week in Blacksburg. Blakney is currently first in the conference and 13th in the nation in the event.
T’Sheila Mungo leads the conference in the 400 meter event as well as second in program history in the event. Mungo is listed as 33rd in the nation with a time of 55.55 this season.
Anthony Bynum set the school record last week in Blacksburg for the 300m with a time of 33.06. Bynum sits in fifth in the conference in the 60m event running a 6.80 time last week. Teammate LeRoy Rouse sits behind Bynum in the conference ranks. Rouse ran a season best 6.83 time at the UAB Blazer Invitational.
Joshua Dunston leads the 49er men in the 60m hurdle event posting the eighth best time in the conference last week running an 8.37.
Kevin Calhoun will look to go to a new height this week tying the school record vaulting 15’11 last week. Kerrick Williams and Katrina Wright continue to be tops in the conference in weight throw. Williams is second, whereas, Wright sits in fourth.
Field and running events will begin at 5 pm on Friday and move into Saturday.
