49ers T&F wrap up at Va Tech Invitational

Blacksburg, Va.- The Charlotte 49ers wrapped up the second weekend of the indoor season in day two of the Virginia Tech Invitational.

“We learned a lot from day two about what we need to work on this week in training.  A big part of these early meets is identifying elements to focus on moving forward and also simply getting accustomed to the demands of multiple day and multiple event meets as well as the ability to perform consistently throughout,” said Coach Robert Olesen.

“Overall it was a successful weeked and with us being at Virginia Tech again next week we will be able to learn a good deal about the effectiveness of our training by being able to compare performances across weekends at the same facility.”

T’Sheila Mungo improved her season best in the 400m placing third with a 55.55 performance.  Phillip Bryant led the way for the men’s 400m placing ninth with a time of 50.22.  Chris Tate followed Bryant with a 50.32 performance.

Alvonna Blakney and Sarah Justice finished in the top 15 in the 200m event.  Blakney finished with a time of 25.46.  Justice tallied a 25.62 performance.

Getisso Dentamo placed fifth overall in the 800m event with a 1:58.00 performance.  Morgan Richards finished in tenth in the 3k finishing first in her heat with a time of 10:30.20.

Trey McRae led the way in the men’s high jump for the Niners placing fifth clearing 2.00m (6’6.5).  Coye Still improved his season best in the long jump with a jump of 6.89m (22’7.25).
