49ers T&F wrap up weekend at JDL Fast Track

Winston-Salem, N.C.- The Charlotte 49ers wrap up the weekend with the JDL Sunday All-Comers in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Sunday afternoon.

Joann Blakney saw her first action of the season competing in the 60m and long jump events.  Blakney finished first in both events with a time of 7.48 (60m) and a leap of 5.87m (19’ 3.25) in the long jump.  Chelsie Carlton picked up a second place finish in the long jump behind Blakney with a leap of 5.57m (18’ 3.25).

Joshua Dunston picked up a first place finish in the 60m hurdles clearing the hurdles with a time of 8.49. Mike Cross and James Harris finished third and fifth respectively.  Daniel Greer finished second in the 60m, 7.08.

Desmond Stearns finished first in the long jump as well with a jump of 6.28m (20’7.25) and finished second in the triple jump, 12.66m (41’ 6.5).  Will Thomas finished third in the long jump (5.98m/19’ 7.5) and fourth in the triple jump (12.48m/40’11.5). Thomas finished second in the high jump event as well with a jump of 1.95m (6’ 4.75).

Nick Swan moved up to ninth in the all-time performance standings with a leap of 2.0m (6’ 6.75) in the high jump.  Swan’s previous best jump was 1.98m (6’6) sitting at tenth on the list.

Freshmen Kendra Lizotte and Brandes Dey cleared 2.45m (8’0.5) in their first collegiate action in the pole vault event.  Sara Fell finished tied for third in the pole vault, vaulting 3.05m (10’).

Charlotte return to action next week as the 49ers head to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational, January 17-18.
