Charlotte (1-0) hosts JC Smith (0-0) in the 49ers first home game of the season. The 49ers won their season-opener, 33-9 at Campbell, Thursday, Aug. 28. The 49ers, in season two of the program’s start-up, are competing as an FCS individual for the second straight season. Charlotte will join FBS Conference USA in 2015.

The 49ers went 5-6 last year while the Golden Bulls went 5-5.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.

LAST TIME OUT:

Charlotte broke open a 6-3 halftime contest with 21 straight points in the third quarter to race past Campbell, 33-9, in the season-opener for both teams. Sophomore RB Kalif Phillips tied his own school record with three rushing touchdowns -- all in the third quarter -- and the 49ers posted their first-ever win without a passing touchdown. The Niners had 453 yards of total offense while Campbell had 341. K Blake Brewer kicked a school-record 50-yard field goal. QB Matt Johnson connected with H-back Justin Bolus for a record 62-yard reception. Charlotte’s 6.6 yards per carry at Campbell is the 49ers second most in school history. Three of the 49ers four TD drives took less than 1:30. The 49ers had one TD drive that took just one play (Thomas 40-yd run) -- last year, Charlotte had six one-play TD drives.

To look for:

Dating back to last season, Charlotte is looking for its third straight win -- which would be the team’s longest win streak ... Kalif Phillips has scored in five straight games; has scored multiple TDs in four straight ... Charlotte has lost its last two home games ... Charlotte is 1-1 alltime vs. DII foes; 1-0 in home games vs. DII foes ... Kalif Phillips has scored 11 TDs in 49ers last 5 games and has a TD in each of the 49ers 6 all-time wins ... Blake Brewer has hit a record five straight FG’s, dating back to last year.

Charlotte was 3-3 in home games last year

Charlotte is 1-0 in its first home game of the year, all-time
