IRVING, Texas - Conference USA is set to become the first NCAA Division I conference to including match play as part of its men's golf league championship. C-USA schools will play 54 holes of stroke play with the top four teams advancing to a four-team seeded match play playoff.
The format change, which mirrors the NCAA Championship format, was approved by the Conference USA Board of Directors during their meetings earlier this month.
The dates and site of the 2015 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship will be determined at a later date.
Charlotte narrowly missed their 10th-consecutive team appearance in the NCAA tournament this past spring in their first season back inside Conference USA. Under the new match play format, the Niners would have qualified as the fourth team a year ago.
