CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
The inaugural Wilson Tennis Camps, held at Charlotte’s Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex, will take place during two, one-week sessions in July. Each week-long camp will be co-directed by 49ers’ head men’s tennis coach Billy Boykin and Niners’ head women’s tennis coach Michaela Gorman.
The summer begins July 14-18 and continues with the next camp the following week, July 21-25. Campers may attend for a full day (9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) for $375, half day (9 a.m.-Noon) for $195 or both weeks for $600. The full day sessions include lunch.
Highlights of the camp include 5.5-6 hours of tennis daily, a comprehensive instructional program with daily teaching progressions, small instructional groups to ensure individual attention, camp demo program with all the latest Wilson rackets, t-shirts, water bottles and prizes for all campers.
Each camper will receive instruction on the fundamentals of all major strokes and will enhance their skills through repetition, ball-feeding drills, live-ball situations and competitive match play. In addition, campers will be exposed to team competition and match play in singles and doubles. These camps are excellent preparation for anyone interested in participating in middle school, high school or USTA team tennis, or preparing to compete in USTA leagues and/or tournaments.
The coaching staff of the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp is hand selected by the camp directors and features a mix of college coaches and top college players. Each staff member is selected for his or her ability to teach and relate to young players in a friendly, thorough and responsible manner. Safety and fun, as well as strong communication skills and teaching ability are prioritized.
Both sessions are designed for boys and girls ages 8-18 of all skill levels. All Charlotte 49ers camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants and are only limited by the age, gender or grade level.
