IRVING, Texas - Conference USA announced its 2014 men's golf all-conference teams and specialty award winners following a vote by the league's head coaches. Charlotte’s Franco Castro was named to the league’s First-Team just a day after being selected to play in the NCAA Raleigh regional.

Castro was elected First-Team All-Conference USA after leading the 49ers during the regular season with 16 rounds under par firing a season-best round of four-under 66 twice in Japan and in October's Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. Castro recorded a pair of individual top-10 finishes, one top-five and averaged a team-best 72.36 stroke average which currently ranks eighth all-time. He tied for 15th at the C-USA Championship.

All 10 All-Conference USA honorees will play in an NCAA regional. Rice, Middle Tennessee and UAB were team selections along with individuals Franco Castro of Charlotte, Eric Brady of East Carolina, Victor Lange of Louisiana Tech, Matt Mabrey and Logan McCracken of Tulsa, and Martin Simonsen of UTEP. The regionals will be conducted May 15-17 and the NCAA Championship will be held May 23-28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
