Another Week, Another Rainout; Rider Game Canceled

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It should come as no surprise to Charlotte baseball fans that weather has once again interfered with the 2014 schedule for the third-consecutive week. Wednesday night’s contest against Rider has been canceled due to weather and field conditions. This makes the ninth game of the season postponed or cancelled due to weather.

The Charlotte area was hit once again with wet weather consisting of freezing rain and some sleet Monday night into Tuesday morning after suffering through an all day rain on Sunday. The wet weather, combined with a lack of sunshine to dry the field out in time, forced Wednesday’s cancelation.

The Niners will be back in action this weekend host in-state rival East Carolina for a Conference USA three-game series beginning Friday night. Corey Roberts (0-2, 4.12) will get the series-opening start at 6:00 p.m. on Friday followed by RHP Ryan Butler (1-2, 3.38) Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and RHP Brock Hudgens (0-2, 3.58) in the Sunday series-finale at 1:00 p.m.

Friday’s game is designated as a GREENOUT (wear green) with Saturday being a WHITEOUT (wear white). Tickets for the weekend series are available by calling the 49ers ticket office at 704-687-4949.
