MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A trip to a different time zone and state still can’t stop Mother Nature from affecting the 2014 Charlotte 49ers baseball schedule. This weekend’s Conference USA schedule at Middle Tennessee has been altered due to expected weather on Sunday.
Both teams will still meet on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. central) for the series-opener. The affected change comes into play Saturday as both teams will now engaged in a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. central) moving Sunday’s game up due to forecasted showers all day long.
Sunday’s game results in the eighth game of the season being altered for Charlotte due to weather. The season-opening four games against Youngstown State and Virginia Tech were snowed out while Wake Forest and Liberty contests were postponed in the last two weeks.
Charlotte had to alter last weekend’s Conference USA opening series with FIU moving Friday’s game to a Saturday doubleheader due to weather. Saturday will mark the second of three doubleheaders schedule this season. The Niners had already scheduled a twinbill with Evansville on Friday, April 4th.
The 49ers will keep their rotation the same with RHP Corey Roberts (0-2, 4.76) going Friday night while RHP Ryan Butler (1-1, 1.89) and RHP Brock Hudgens (0-1, 3.32) will toss in the double dip. Middle Tennessee will send LHP Zac Curtis (2-0, 4.97) to the hill Friday while countering with RHP Paul Mittura (0-0, 3.86) and LHP Johnathan Frebis (0-3, 5.59) on Saturday.
