Golf Stands Tied for Tenth in Houston

HUMBLE, Tex. – After the winter layoff, the Charlotte men’s golf team got back on the links finishing round one of the Bayou City Collegiate Championship tied for tenth with South Florida. The 49ers shot an opening-round 293 (+5) trailing host Houston by 13 shots heading into Saturday’s action.

Raoul Menard fired a one-under 71 in his first circuit around the Golf Club of Houston with his birdie on #15, one of three on the day. Franco Castro posted a par of 16 of his 18 holes starting his weekend with an even-par 72 while Riley Davenport used three birdies to card his opening-round 74. Seth Gandy began with an early bogey on three before getting that shot back immediately with a birdie on four en route to his first round of 76. John Boehme wrapped up Charlotte scoring right behind after a 77.

Round two for the Niners will begin at 9:00 a.m. local time paired with South Florida and New Mexico State.
