With the arrival of new head coach Gokhan Yilmaz, the Charlotte 49ers volleyball program has begun spring individual training and the strength and conditioning program towards the 2014 fall season.

Yilmaz was installed two weeks ago as the new head coach, and met with the team in mid-January to lay out plans for the spring.

Coaches and players can work out in small groups for skill development and strength and conditioning periods until the team phase begins later in the semester. Once team training commences, the team will compete in some spring tournaments to give Coach Yilmaz the ability to evaluate the current roster and see need areas for the program.

Coach Yilmaz is also in the process of hiring assistants to join the campaign and aid in recruiting, which also began last week.

The Niners have 11 players on the roster this spring, including all of the outside hitters from the fall and setter Britney Leigh Held. Both graduating seniors were middle blockers, including All-Conference USA performer Amanda Videmsek.

The Niners will also release the spring and fall schedules later this semester, along with summer camp dates.
