Charlottesville, Va.- The Charlotte 49ers men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their 2013 season at the NCAA Southeast Regional placing in the top 25 on both sides.
The 49er men’s team finished in the top 25, placing 24th overall as a team. The 49ers were paced by junior Zach Greth finishing 127th. Sophomore Ben Sterett was not far behind placing 130th. Joseph Cotto, Daweet Dagnachew, and Getisso Dentamo rounded out the scoring for the 49ers finishing 139th, 154th and 161st respectively. Michael Tamayo and Ross Roberson rounded out the rest of the 49er runners finishing 178th and 191st.
The 49er women’s team finished the 6k race in 20th overall as a team. Kim Spano paced the 49ers women’s squad finishing the 6k course in 61st with a time of 21:54.2. Conference USA honoree Maraya Slatter finished the course in 22.11.9 for a 76th place finish. Morgan Richards placed third for the Niners trekking the course in 22:38 for a 108th place finish. Kristen Stout (143), Jen Molke (174), Carolina Casin-Silva (190) and Taylor Carcella (192) ran for the Niners.
The NCAA Southeast Regionals was the last race for seniors Joseph Cotto, Daweet Dagnachew and Ross Roberson for the men's squad. It was also the last race for graduate student Kim Spano and senior Maraya Slatter for the women's.
