Charlotte lands six on All-Conference USA list

Irving, Texas- Charlotte land six on the Conference USA men’s soccer awards list.  Kyle Parker, Guiseppe Gentile, Aidan Kirkbride, Thomas Allen, Brandt Bronico, and Luke Waechter receive conference honors.

Giuseppe Gentile and Aidan Kirkbride grab All-Conference USA First Team honors.  Gentile has played in 16 matches this season and tallied six goals and three assists.  Three of his goals have been game-winners for the 49ers.  Gentile has found himself on the All-Conference honors every season of his career.  Kirkbride has played in all 17 matches this season at the midfield position.  Kirkbride is having a stellar senior campaign with a career-high four goals and two game-winners.  Kirkbride picks up his first career conference honors of his career.

In the first year of the Golden Boot award given by the Conference USA, there is a co-champion of the award.  Kyle Parker and Alex Clay of UAB shares the honors with both players tied atop the league with 7 goals apiece.  Parker has tallied three assists this season following his team-leading 11 goals.  Parker has played in all 17 matches this season.  Parker also found himself on the All-Conference USA Third Team.

Defender Thomas Allen lands on the All-Conference USA Second Team list.  Allen has played in 16 matches this season.  The 49er defender has been a part of a league leading nine shutouts.  Allen has made All-Conference in back-to-back seasons.

Brandt Bronico and Luke Waechter find themselves on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.  Bronico has played in 15 matches this season.  Bronico has scored two goals this season with his first collegiate goal coming against FAU on the road.  Bronico picked up his first career assist against Coastal Carolina.  Waechter has played defender for the 49ers in 16 matches this season.  Waechter has found the back of the net three times this season with his first collegiate goal coming against Memphis and scored in back-to-back matches with the second against Campbell.  Waechter jumped into action quickly assisting in the first match of the season against Denver on the road.

Charlotte finishes the regular season with a record of 9-5-3.  The 49ers will host the 2013 Conference USA Championships at Transamerica Field this week.  The 49ers will play UAB in the night cap at 8 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
