49ers Play College of Charleston On The Road

The Charlotte 49ers (1-0) will face the College of Charleston (0-1) in their first road game of the season, Tuesday, November 12 at 7 pm.

Charlotte defeated ETSU, 80-75, in their season opener in Halton Arena, Friday, November 8. The victory over ETSU marked the third straight season that the 49ers have won their season-opener.

In the ETSU game, Mike Thorne Jr. scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. Pierria Henry with another solid all-around game with 17 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists. Shawn Lester scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench in his first college game. Terrence Williams rounded out the 49ers double-figure scorers with 10 points. Marcus Bryan scored nine points off the bench. Willie Clayton scored eight points in the game.

This game will be College of Charleston’s home opener. College of Charleston lost to defending national champions Louisville on the road, 70-48, in their last game, November 9. Canyon Barry scored 10 points in that game to lead the College of Charleston.

This game will mark the 16th meeting between Charlotte and College of Charleston. The 49ers lead the all-time series, 9-6. College of Charleston has won the last two meetings between the two teams including a 71-64 win in their last meeting which came at Charleston, February 7, 1994.
