CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It’s time to check in with the Charlotte women’s basketball program and the third and final edition of a three-part summer notebook series. Each of these notebooks was designed to provide updates on the 49ers summer happenings and catch up with a member of the coaching staff.

The focus for this edition is to introduce new staff members who will be working with the program starting in 2013-14. Assistant coach Nicole Woods joined the staff in the early summer period and has endured her first recruiting season searching high and low for new Niners. Below is an extensive, in-depth video interview with her.

Also new to the program this season will be athletics trainer Jen Winningham and strength coach Skyler Farley. Short bios on each of them are below to help Charlotte fans become acquainted with their involvement with the program and the 49ers athletic department.

Jen Winningham came to Charlotte after working from 2009-13 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) of the Sun Belt Conference. With the Warhawks, she worked with women’s basketball, oversaw women’s athletics and served as the insurance coordinator. She also covered the 2012 softball season and taught classes within the kinesiology department on campus.

Prior to her stint in Monroe, La., Winningham worked at Tennessee Tech from 2005-09, covering primarily women’s soccer and softball. She covered women’s basketball and volleyball in 2008-09, served as the insurance coordinator for all athletics in addition to her specific sport assignments.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech in 2003 and her master’s degree from Louisiana Tech in 2005.

Skyler Farley also became a 49ers staff member this summer, arriving after holding similar strength and conditioning positions at Kansas, North Carolina and USF. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and is a USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.

When not in the weight room with student-athletes, Farley enjoys competing in powerlifting and leading young professional Bible studies at a local church.

He earned his bachelors of science degree in exercise science from Kansas.

Another new Niner Nation member joins the women’s basketball program for the first time this season, as head coach Cara Consuegra gave birth to Jayden Consuegra Josetti Aug. 6 with husband JP by her side. Jayden was born at 7:36 p.m., weighing eight pounds, nine ounces. He was 21 inches long upon his birth.
