Charlotte golf posted a 25-over par 309 and fell back into the pack and a tie for eighth at the NCAA Columbus Regional, contested at The OSU Golf Club, Scarlet Course Friday morning.

The 49ers, who were in first with a three-over par round yesterday, are nine strokes off fifth place and 12 strokes behind the leaders, UNLV and South Carolina. The top five teams by score advance to the NCAA Championships in two weeks in Atlanta.

“We had a day where all five guys struggled,” said head coach Ryan Cabbage. “We own it and we forget about today and refocus on tomorrow. We want to come out and put a good round on the board in the morning and put together a solid round like yesterday. The way we look at it, we are nine off the number as of right now, and with the way we have shown resiliency this season, I fully expect us to get out there tomorrow and rebound and play well tomorrow.”

Sophomore Raoul Menard (Ange-Gardier, Quebec City / Beaulieu) is four shots out of the lead after a second round six-over par 77. He is two-over par after leading with a four-under 67 on Thursday.

The top individual not on a team qualifying for the National Championship is invited to compete for an individual title.

The 49ers will tee off first from the 10th tee at 7:30 a.m. as the first group out for the day in the final round of the regional
