After 96 consecutive starts at third base, Charlotte 49ers senior Shane Basen (Waxhaw, N.C. / Marvin Ridge HS) earned his second-career Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honor in his first week starting at shortstop for the 49ers.

Basen hit .583 (7-of-12) in three games for the 49ers in their 2-1 week, with an on-base percentage of .643 (including a pair of walks.) He knocked in a team-high four runs on the week, with three RBI in a 12-3 win in which he went 4-for-5 at High Point. His previous A-10 Player of the Week nod came on April 30 of last year.

The conference also named Temple's Nick Lustrino Co-Player of the Week with Basen, while VCU's Ryan Farrar was named the league's Pitcher of the Week and his Rams teammate James Bunn took home Rookie of the Week honors.

Charlotte was rained out Tuesday afternoon at Wake Forest, but the two teams postponed the game to Wednesday, February 27 at 6 p.m in Winston-Salem. Charlotte hosts Youngstown State for a four-game weekend series at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium, starting this Friday at 4 p.m. Friday is National Salesperson Day, with an online ticket special for that game.
