Charlotte baseball has added its last makeup game due to snowed out games last weekend, putting a home game on the docket Monday versus Marshall at noon at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. The game will be free to the public.
The 49ers added a Tuesday road game at No. 10 North Carolina State and a Thursday home game against Pfeiffer on Thursday to collect two of the three lost games against Delaware State in the season's opening weekend. This contest versus Marshall gets the 49ers back on track towards a full 56-game schedule.
Marshall is 1-2 after a Thursday night loss at North Carolina A&T, with a planned Sunday doubleheader against the Aggies. A planned game against Coastal Carolina was washed out over the weekend for the Thundering Herd, who also lost a game last weekend against Old Dominion. The Herd is also searching for makeup games, opening the door for the Monday game at Hayes Stadium after a short drive down from Greensboro after Sunday's scheduled games. Marshall, a future Conference USA opponent, stands at 1-2 entering Sunday's twinbill.
The 49ers have posted a 3-1 record, with 999 total program wins (999-844-6) in the 35-year history of the program. Monday's makeup could be an impromptu chance to win the school's 1,000th baseball contest. The 49ers are 1-2 all-time against Marshall.
The 49ers will play their regularly-scheduled Tuesday contest at Wake Forest at 4 p.m. before a four-game home series against Youngstown State starting Friday.
