CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team will put a stamp on its non-conference schedule when it plays host to Colgate at 2 p.m. Sunday inside Halton Arena.

The 49ers bring a two-game win streak into the contest and an overall 10-3 record after knocking off Coppin State 70-53 Thursday afternoon on Education Day in front of a season-high 5,565 patrons. Four Charlotte players reached double-figure scoring, led by a game-best 17 from senior Jennifer Hailey, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.

Hailey enters Sunday's contest, the first in the series between the two programs, with a team-leading 14.5 points per game average. Her nine double-doubles on the campaign tie her for fifth nationally, while she also ranks 12th across the country with 11.5 rebounds per game.

She is one of three Niners making a splash on the national statistics scene. Classmate Amanda Dowe's team-best average of 11.6 rebounds places her 10th, making Charlotte the lone school to have two players among the Top 12.

Junior Ny Hammonds is second across the country with 7.8 assists per game. She was listed first all season and still ranks high on the chart after handing out seven in Thursday's victory.

The Niners will be looking to make a three-game improvement from last year's 8-6 record through the non-conference slate. By already tallying 10 wins, Charlotte has reached double-digit victories the second earliest in the last eight years, following the 2010-11 squad attaining the milestone in just 12 games.

Colgate, a member of the Patriot League, has won its last two under second-year head coach Nicci Hays Fort to climb within a game of .500 at 6-7. The Raiders knocked off New Hampshire and NJIT before arriving in Charlotte.

Missy Repoli paces the squad with 8.7 points per game, while Josie Stockill hauls in a team-best 5.1 rebounds per contest.

The defensive-minded program has allowed more than 70 points only twice this year, in a 101-41 setback at Connecticut Nov. 28 and in a 73-47 loss at Iona Dec. 21.
