![]() Former 49ers men's basketball standout Javarris Barnett (2008-12) is playing professional basketball in England. Barnett, who averaged 12.1 points per game last season for the 49ers, plays for the UPC Marjon Plymouth Raiders of the British Basketball League (BBL). In an exhibition game against the Dublin Thunder on September 16th, Barnett scored 38 points on 8-for-14 shooting from beyond the three-point line. The Raiders beat the Dublin Thunder 98-72. The Raiders won their BBL season-opener, 108-86, over the Milton Keynes Lions, September 30. The Raiders return to action this Sunday, October 7 when they play the Manchester Giants at home. Barnett finished his Charlotte career with 713 points and 400 rebounds. He connected on 134 career three-point field goals which ranks 13th on 49ers' all-time list. Last season, he enjoyed his best year as a Niner. He scored
362 points as a senior after scoring 350 points over his first three seasons at
Charlotte. He ranked ninth in the A-10 in three-point field goals made per game
at 2.0. He tallied four 20-point scoring games including a career-high 27
points against Xavier in Halton Arena, January 28. He recorded 18 double-figure
scoring games and three doubles-doubles including a 26 points and 12 rebounds
performance against Coppin State, December 19. |
