Paul Ferrier (Edinburgh, Scotland), who recently completed a standout senior campaign with the Charlotte 49ers, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2012 British Amateur.
Ferrier advanced through stroke play into match play by shooting even par through the first two stroke play rounds at Royal Troon and Glasgow - Gailes Links.
Once in match play, Ferrier defeated Ben Stow, 7&6 in the round of 64 and today toppled Denmark's Victor Henum, 4&3 in the round of 32 and Italy's Lorenzo Scotto on the 19th hole of the round of 16 to reach tomorrow's final eight.
A two-time all-Atlantic 10 choice, Ferrier led the 49ers to an at-large berth in the 2012 NCAA Tournament with a 73.14 stroke average. It was the 49ers school-record eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
