Charlotte, NC - Last November, Alexis
(Lexi) Alexander and Victoria (Tori) Carter of Atlanta, Georgia, Kira Gordon of
Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia and Shequana Harris of Bronx, New York signed
national letters-of-intent to join the 49ers women's basketball program in the
Fall of 2012. We want to catch everyone up on what these four future 49ers did
their senior seasons.
Alexander, who is a 6-foot-1 post
player from Atlanta's Alpharetta High School, earned 6AAAAA
All-Region honors. She was also named to the All-State North team by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the
Georgia Athletic Coaches Association. She was named to the All-North Fulton by
the North Fulton Neighbor Newspaper.
She was also a Senior North All-Star selection.
Carter,
who is a 5-foot-8 guard from Atlanta's Norcross High School, earned second-team
All-County honors
this past season. She also will participate in the Georgia All-Star game.
Gordon, who is a 6-foot guard from Georgia's Kennesaw Mountain High School, was
a McDonald's All-American Nominee. She earned Georgia
Sportswriters Association honorable-mention All-State honors. She was named
second-team All-County by the Atlanta
Journal Constitution, Marietta Daily Journal and the Cobb County Tip Off
Club. She averaged 17.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.7 steals and two blocked shots
per game this past season. This past
year, she set school records for points in a season, points per game and
rebounds in a game with 20.
Harris,
who is a 5-foot-6 guard from the Bronx's Murray Bergtraum High School, was
named New York City Player of the Year by the New York Post. She earned first-team New York Post All-City honors. She was named second-team
All-Madison Square Garden Tri-State. She helped Murray Bergtraum capture their
fourth straight New York Public Schools' City Championship.
Alexander,
Carter, Gordon and Harris join a 49ers women's basketball program that earned
their school-record tenth consecutive postseason tournament bid this past
season.
