CHARLOTTE, N.C.  - The Charlotte 49ers softball team (20-19; 4-6 A10) returns home to take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (14-14; 4-4 A10) in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for noon.

The 49ers are 11-3 all-time against Bonaventure, including a series split last season. In last year's road doubleheader, Briana Gwaltney and Chelsea Stamey each picked up a pair of base hits in the first contest, which saw former 49ers great Katy Hackett hurl a one-hit, 1-0 shutout victory. Despite a trio of hits from Whitney Williams and a pair from Chelsea Ingersoll in game two, the Niners fell, 6-3 with Kalie Lang in the circle.

Earlier this week, Charlotte had a five-game win streak, its longest of the season, snapped at Gardner-Webb Wednesday. The Niners split with the Runnin' Bulldogs, falling 2-0 before coming back to win the second game, 8-5.

Gwaltney leads the 49ers offense with a .345 batting average and a team-high 40 hits and 36 RBIs, including a single-season record 13 home runs. Rookie lead-off hitter Alex Rogers is next, batting .330 with 35 hits and 27 runs scored. Classmate Jackie Kleinsmith is also batting over .300, with 29 hits and 11 runs driven in.

Freshman pitcher Lexi Betancourt is 12-9 on the season with a 3.16 ERA. Through 141.2 innings, the Garner, N.C. native has 91 strikeouts and 39 walks while holding opponents to a .270 batting average.

Live stats for both contests will be available at www.charlotte49ers.com. A live video stream will also be broadcast for paying subscribers. As always, admission to all regular-season home games is free and open to the public.
