Charlotte baseball concludes its five-game home stand Wednesday night against Wake Forest, with first pitch at 6 p.m. at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.

A pair of sophomore right-handers have been tapped to start the contest, with Wake's Nate Jones (2-0, 1.29 earned run average, with 13 strikeouts and five walks) going against Charlotte's Broack Hudgens (Jamestown, N.C. / Southwest Guilford HS), who has no record, with a 4.66 ERA, 15 strikeouts and nine walks this season.

The 49ers and Demon Deacons will be playing their 60^th game of the series this week, dating back to 1980. Charlotte is 15-15 against Wake at home in the series, with a 25-33-1 overall record in the series. Charlotte has won two of the last three meetings between the two teams.

Both teams suffered sweeps at the hands of conference foes over the weekend, looking to get a win and get back on track. Wake enters the contest at 19-14 overall, winners of 15-straight games entering Atlantic Coast Conference play, but is just 3-10 since starting conference play. After a 9-3 start to the year, Charlotte is 14-18 on the season, with five wins in the last 20 contests.

The 49ers came in 28^th in the nation on Monday in stolen bases, led by outfielder Shane Brown (Davidson, N.C. / North Mecklenburg HS), who checked in at sixth in the country with 23 stolen bases as of Monday's stats release. He leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in that category. He is also fourth in the league, leading Charlotte with 31 runs scored.

In addition, sophomore Justin Seager (Kannapolis, N.C. / Northwest Cabarrus) is tied for the league with three triples and is the first 49ers this season to put together a hit streak of 10 or more games, now standing at 11 in a row. He leads Charlotte with eight doubles and holds the distinction of being the lone player on the 49ers roster with more extra-base hits than singles. He is third on the team with a .452 slugging percentage.

Charlotte will return to the road this weekend with a three-game series at Temple, starting Friday afternoon.
