Charlotte 49ers senior Olafur Loftsson and freshman Raoul Menard were named the Atlantic 10 Golf Player and Rookie of the Week, April 5, for their performance at this past week's Irish Creek Collegiate.

Loftsson (Gardabaer, Iceland) fired a career-best seven-under par, 206 to finish sixth at the Irish Creek Collegiate and lead the 49ers to a fourth-place finish.  He shot par or better in each of the three rounds, including a four-under par 67 in round two and a final round of three-under par 68.  The sixth-place finish matches Loftsson's best finish of the season.

Menard (Ange-Gardier, Quebec City) rebounded from an opening round 78 to shoot back-to-back under-par rounds and tie for 29th at four-over par 217.  Menard carded a one-under 70 and two-under par 69 in the final two rounds to post his top 30 finish and help Charlotte to 4^th-place in the 13-team event.

This is Loftsson's first A-10 Player of the Week Award of the season and the 49ers third this year.  Paul Ferrier won the award twice in the fall.  This is Menard's third A-10 Rookie of the Week honor.  He won two awards in the fall and now has one this spring.
