Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation has announced that last month's 29th Annual Great Gold Rush Auction raised in excess of $220,000 for the 49ers Athletic Scholarship fund.
With over 600 people bidding on over 1400 items, the 49ers were able to raise $223,000, to easily the surpass the event's goal of $210,000. The event was held June 4 at Dale F. Halton Arena within the university's James H. Barnhardt Student Activity Center.
"It was a tremendous evening," said 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose. "We were able to offer a wide variety of quality items and we can't thank the community enough for those donations. On top of that, the folks in attendance really embraced the effort, which made for a wonderful atmosphere. These proceeds benefit our scholarship fund and we are thrilled with the great support and friendships this event consistently generates."
Dennis Champion, of Compass Group North America, chaired the event while Chartwell's - A division of Compass Group, served as the title sponsor.
The 30th Annual Great Gold Rush Auction will be held June 2, 2012.
