49er Club Golf Outing Surpasses Goal

Charlotte, N.C. -- A full playing field of over 120 participants turned out to take part in the 34th Annual 49er Club Golf Outing Sponsored by OrthoCarolina at Pine Island Country Club, April 18.  The 49er Club raised over $64,000 to surpass their goal of $62,000.

Proceeds from the fundraising event benefit the 49ers Athletic Scholarship Fund.

Participants at the event included UNC Charlotte Chancellor Dr. Phil Dubois, Dr. Jim Fleischli of title sponsor OrthoCarolina and the 49ers head football coach Brad Lambert.  Head men's basketball coach Alan Major greeted participants throughout the course. Director of Athletics Judy Rose hosted a post-round reception where the winning foursome from The Pepsi Beverages Co. received their first-place award.

David Stanford, of Edifice, Inc., served as event chairperson. In addition to title sponsor OrthoCarolina, presenting sponsors included Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, Coca Cola Bottling Company Consolidated,  Lee Valve Company and Rodgers Builders. Classic tile and Marble sponsored the lunch that was provided by Jocks and Jills.

"Thanks to outstanding leadership of David Stanford and the work of 49er Club Golf Outing Committee, we had a full field and surpassed our goal," said Michael Hummer, Executive Director of the Athletic Foundation.  "We are extremely grateful to all the companies and individuals for their generous support of the Athletic Foundation and the Charlotte 49ers' student-athletes."
