CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team heads into their final home weekend series of the season hosting Richmond in a key Atlantic 10 Conference match-up which kicks off 6pm Friday night at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. As part of the game the 49ers have teamed up with Levine Children's Hospital to drive support for pediatric cancer research.

Fans who would like to join the 49ers in supporting the cause can donate online by clicking here. To show support as a 49ers fan, choose "direct my gift" and select "pediatric cancer" in the gift designation and put Charlotte 49ers in the comments box when making your donation.

On game day, the 49ers will auction off a bat used at the 49ers/Knights game in early April with proceeds from the auction going to Levine Children's Hospital. This commemorative bat will be signed by the 49ers baseball team. Bidding will begin when the gates open at 5pm and run though the 6th inning, with the winner being announced in the 8th inning. The bidding will open at $50. Also as part of the game, yellow ribbons will be handed out for fans to display their support of pediatric cancer research.

The final 49erFanatics.com Saturday Tailgate Series event of the 2011 season will take place beginning at 12pm on Saturday, May 7, in lot 23 near Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. Game time is set for 2pm. Prior to the game join us as we honor members of the 2000's All-Decade Team, as well as the 2011 senior class which includes Kevin Gillespie, Bryan Hamilton, Corey Shaylor, Cory Tilton, and Justin Wilson. Youth 17 and under will be provided complimentary admission to the game as part of free youth day. Local mascots to entertain the children and the crowd as part of youth day.

The final game of the series is at 12pm on Sunday, May 8.
